Staying connected with the global health and development community

by | Jul 8, 2025

In Q2 (2025), PFSCM stayed connected to the global health community and kept learning, sharing our expertise, and aligning with partners in the public health and diagnostics sectors.

Breakbulk: The conference highlighted the logistics industry’s strong focus on sustainability and digital transformation, showcasing innovations like AI-driven optimization and real-time emissions tracking to create greener, more efficient supply chains. Amid a shifting global trade landscape shaped by tariffs and political changes, major shippers emphasized the need for infrastructure modernization and innovative solutions. The launch of the Breakbulk awards, particularly the “Green World awards,” spotlighted best practices in sustainability and innovation across the supply chain.

WHA side events: At the WHA side events key discussions revolved around addressing deficiencies in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) frameworks and commodity forecasts, investing in the health workforce, strengthening health data governance in the age of AI, and supporting local manufacturing initiatives for diagnostics. Meetings with various organizations explored partnerships for increased funding, improved access, and opportunities to support programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Global AMR Diagnostics Consortium: PFSCM joined the new global collaboration aimed at tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through improved diagnostics. The AMR Diagnostics Consortium meeting in Ghana highlighted strong support for supply chain solutions that have the potential to improve access to diagnostics. Key partners from research, public health, NGOs, and industry collaboratively defined the consortium’s mission, vision, and initial action plan.

Africa Health ExCon: Key takeaways from this important annual healthcare event were that diagnostics remain essential for resilience, health equity, and pandemic preparedness, with expanding access and quality at the core. Regional collaboration is gaining traction through shared procurement and stronger partnerships, while shifts toward local manufacturing and sustainable domestic financing reflect a new approach to long-term health investment. Finally, as point-of-care diagnostics grow, so does the need for robust digital infrastructure to support real-time data integration and regulatory compliance.

5th WHO Global Forum on Medical Devices: The forum emphasized equitable access to essential medical devices and diagnostics through value-based procurement, sustainable sourcing, and responsible AI integration. Key discussions highlighted WHO’s updated policy and Health Technology Assessment frameworks, the launch of the Global Diagnostics Coalition, and actions to advance national diagnostics strategies in LMICs.
