Cepheid’s Global Access program started in 2011 with the vision for equitable access to revolutionary new molecular diagnostics. Today, Cepheid’s Global Access program reaches every corner of the globe impacted by deadly diseases like Tuberculosis (TB), HIV and Ebola. Cepheid’s ongoing commitment to invest and innovate continues to improve the standard of care for communities in low- and middle-income countries.

Cepheid Accessible Pricing

For private organizations recognized by a country’s health ministry and whose mission aligns with humanitarian principles – such as private charities or private hospitals/clinics offering free or low-cost care – eligibility for negotiated pricing is determined on a case-by-case basis by Cepheid in consultation with local and global stakeholders.

The public sector in eligible countries* can purchase Xpert test cartridges for Tuberculosis, SARS-CoV-2, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, HIV, Ebola virus, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) / Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), Trichonomas vaginalis (TV), Mpox and monitoring of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia at the prices listed below.

All prices in these tables are given Ex Works and a prepayment requirement applies. Shipping charges under other Incoterms may be quoted in addition.

CRITICAL INFECTIOUS DISEASES

*This product has not been FDA cleared or approved, but has been authorized for emergency use by FDA under an EUA for use by the authorized laboratories; this product has been authorized only for the detection of nucleic acid from monkeypox virus or other non-variola orthopoxviruses, not for any other viruses or pathogens; and the emergency use of this product is only authorized for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use of in vitro diagnostics for detection and/or diagnosis of infection with the monkeypox virus, including in vitro diagnostics that detect and/or diagnose infection with non-variola Orthopoxvirus, under Section 564(b)(1) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the declaration is terminated or authorization is revoked sooner.

Warranty

Warranty covers the GeneXpert instrument and parts (such as module or computer replacement).

  • Warranty starts when systems are invoiced.
  • All GeneXpert systems come with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty on parts.
  • For the Global Access program, a second year of warranty is offered at no additional cost on condition that the system check (Xpert Check) is performed before the end of the first year.
  • Xpert Check kit should be ordered and performed every year to certify that the system remains within specification.
  • Remote assistance is included.

On-site interventions are not included unless a separate agreement is in place (such as Access Care or Warranty Extension “Plus”).

Warranty extension

  • In addition to the initial 2-year warranty provided by Cepheid, warranty extensions can also be purchased per-system payment or single contract option to cover multiple instruments or entire system install base, for +1 year or +3 years coverage.
  • That includes parts replacement, repairs, and online technical support.
  • The cost of shipping parts is covered by Cepheid (CIP) – additional charges may be incurred to the customer. On-site interventions are included in Warranty Extensions “Plus”.

System maintenance

  • Daily maintenance: Clean work area, close all module doors and discard used cartridges.
  • Weekly maintenance: Power down the GeneXpert instrument and the computer and clean fan prefilters.
  • Monthly: Archive and purge tests.
  • Quarterly maintenance: Clean plunger rod and cartridge bay, clean the instrument surfaces and replace filters.
  • Annually: perform annual instrument maintenance with Xpert Check.
  • As necessary maintenance: Clean I-Core using I-CORE brush, print and review system log report and backup database.

Xpert Check is performed every year  to certify that the system remains within specification: one kit allows the user to check 4 modules.

The kit should be ordered from Cepheid at ordersinternational@cepheid.com  (US$ 450, unless there is a warranty extension in place).

No shipping costs will be added if the Xpert Check kit is shipped with other tests or systems.

Xpert Check results may trigger module replacement if nominal performance conditions are not met.

For any system covered by a warranty or a warranty extension, the costs of module replacement are included.

For any System not covered by a warranty or a warranty extension, any failure should be reported to Cepheid. Should a module replacement be deemed necessary, a pre-owned module would be charged at US$900. Shipping costs both ways will be added to the quote. It is mandatory to return the replaced defective module(s).

Onsite interventions are not included and can be quoted separately by the assigned authorized service provider.

Preventive maintenance includes the regular maintenance tasks that can be executed onsite by the user to ensure the good performance of the system. Maintenance procedures may be performed more frequently according to your environmental conditions.

Cepheid Access Care

The comprehensive service program, AccessCare is available in an increasing number of countries. This program simplifies service budget management, integrating service and support into test pricing based on a volume commitment. All GeneXpert systems are covered by one Service Level Agreement and the performance is monitored and shared monthly, quarterly, and annually. Main conditions are:

  • Pre-defined surcharge for each cartridge that covers entire system install base under single contract
  • Comprehensive coverage, including parts replacement, repairs, technical support, and travel and lodging for onsite service
  • Performance monitored and shared with monthly KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
  • 1-year to 3-year contracts
