PFSCM receives European Good Distribution Practice certification

The Partnership for Supply Chain Management (PFSCM), a nonprofit procurement services agent and supply chain solutions provider, is pleased to announce that it has received European Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining the quality, integrity, and safety of medicines and healthcare products throughout its supply chain.

The certification was issued following a successful onsite inspection conducted in May 2026 by the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate, part of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. The certification is valid for five years and confirms PFSCM’s compliance with European Union GDP guidelines for medicinal products for human use.

GDP certification establishes the standard for ensuring the quality and integrity of medicines throughout sourcing, handling, storage, transportation, and distribution activities.

The framework is designed to ensure that health products remain safe and effective from manufacturer to end user, while reducing the risk of counterfeit, damaged, or improperly handled products entering the supply chain.

The certification applies to all parties involved in pharmaceutical procurement and distribution and requires organizations to maintain robust quality systems, documented procedures, trained personnel, and complete traceability across operations.

PFSCM Quality Assurance and Regulatory Manager and Responsible Person, Marina Tiroyan explains that as part of the inspection process, PFSCM’s quality systems and end-to-end supply chain operations were evaluated.

“The assessment confirmed that our systems and operational practices across supplier and logistics partner qualification, product handling and transportation, storage and temperature controls, traceability, documentation, training, and recall management are compliant.”

Further, Tiroyan notes that the inspection also assessed oversight of outsourced activities, internal audits, and corrective action procedures to verify compliance with EU GDP requirements.

“The certification confirms that we maintain robust controls to protect product integrity, ensure regulatory compliance, and safeguard the quality and safety of medicines throughout distribution.”

In addition, PFSCM Chief Quality & Risk Officer Michael Harrigan says the certification reflects PFSCM’s continued investment in quality assurance and patient safety.

“Earning this internationally recognized GDP certification demonstrates our unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and ultimately helps protect patient safety.

He stresses that this achievement reflects the strength of PFSCM’s quality culture and the dedication of its teams across the organization to maintaining the highest standards in pharmaceutical supply chain management.

“Adding GDP certification to our ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 20400 adherence, and Model Quality Assurance System for Procurement Agencies compliance further strengthens our position as a trusted global supply chain partner.”

Meanwhile, the certification further supports PFSCM’s existing Wholesale Distribution Authorization (WDA) license, which is required for the legal wholesale distribution of medicinal products within the European Union and European Economic Area. Wholesale distribution activities include the procurement, storage, supply, and export of medicinal products and are a critical component of integrated public health supply chain management.

In conclusion, the certification enhances PFSCM’s ability to help ensure safe, effective, and quality-assured medicines reach patients worldwide.
